Top US Regulator Investigates iPhone 12 Safety Amid Radioactivity Concerns
Reports have surfaced claiming that a leading US regulator is conducting an investigation into the safety of Apple’s iPhone 12. This comes after France recently banned the sale of the device due to concerns over radioactivity levels.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the regulatory authority responsible for overseeing smartphone safety in the US, has refuted these claims. The FDA states that there is no scientific evidence supporting a link between exposure to radio frequency energy from cell phones and adverse health effects.
France’s decision to halt iPhone 12 sales was prompted by electromagnetic radiation levels that surpass European Union restrictions. However, Apple has vehemently challenged these allegations, asserting that the iPhone 12 complies with global standards.
The ban in France has raised concerns in other European countries as well. Germany, Belgium, and Spain are among the nations that may also consider prohibiting the sale of the iPhone 12.
However, in contrast to France and these European nations, the United States FDA has stated that it has no plans to ban the device.
Amidst the controversy, Apple unveiled its highly anticipated iPhone 15 earlier this week. In a move to address the French testing methods, the tech giant also offered a software update.
This is not the first time concerns regarding the potential health risks of cell phone radiation have been raised. Previous research has suggested that prolonged exposure to radiation emitted by these devices can lead to various health issues, including cancer, infertility, and memory loss.
Nonetheless, despite these concerns, iPhone enthusiasts continue to eagerly anticipate the release of Apple’s latest device.
As the investigation into the safety of the iPhone 12 continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how the findings will impact the global smartphone market and consumer perception.
