Tesla’s Gigafactory near Berlin, which was targeted by a far-left group known as Volcano Group last week, has been reconnected to the power grid after a night of repair work by grid operator E.DIS. The sabotage resulted in a damaged pylon, causing a halt in car production and costing the company millions.
Despite the setback, the repair work was completed faster than expected, allowing production to gradually restart. Tesla CEO Elon Musk criticized the saboteurs, calling them the “dumbest eco-terrorists in the world.”
The sabotage comes amidst ongoing protests by environmentalists opposing the expansion of the Tesla factory and the clearing of a forest in Grünheide. The company had expected the factory to remain down until the end of the week, but thanks to the efforts of E.DIS employees working in a three-shift rotation, the factory is back up and running sooner than anticipated.
The reconnection to the power grid is a positive step forward for Tesla as they work to resume production and meet their targets. Stay tuned for further updates on the progress of the Gigafactory near Berlin on Heartland Magazine.
