Miami Dolphins Cut 14 Players to Meet NFL Roster Limit
Miami, FL – The Miami Dolphins announced on Tuesday that they have cut 14 players from their team in order to reach the NFL’s mandatory 53-man roster limit. Among the players cut, only one had previously played a regular-season game for the Dolphins.
Defensive tackle Josiah Bronson, who had previously seen time on the field for the Dolphins, found himself among the unfortunate players let go. Bronson had shown promise in his previous outings, but the intense competition for roster spots ultimately led to his release.
In addition to Bronson, the Dolphins also parted ways with quarterback James Blackman, an undrafted college free agent. Blackman had displayed talent during training camp, but the team decided to go in a different direction for their quarterback depth.
Safety Keidron Smith, a local talent who attended Oxbridge Academy, was also waived by the Dolphins. Smith had hoped to prove his worth and earn a permanent spot on the team, but the fierce competition in the secondary ultimately worked against him.
The Dolphins also cut several undrafted free agents who had joined the team during the offseason. Linebacker Michell Agude, defensive end Randy Charlton, receiver Chris Coleman, linebacker Aubrey Miller, linebacker Garrett Nelson, and tackle James Tunstall were all casualties of the trimming process.
Adding to the roster reduction, former Dolphins players who had found temporary homes with other teams also received the unfortunate news of being cut. Offensive lineman Adam Pankey (Bills), offensive tackle Greg Little (Texans), running back Kenyan Drake (Colts), offensive tackle Isaiah Prince (Broncos), offensive tackle Julie’n Davenport (Giants), center Cameron Tom (Eagles), punter Michael Palardy (Commanders), and punter Matt Haack (Cardinals) all found themselves without teams as well.
After all the cuts, the Dolphins now have a total of 75 players on their roster. This leaves them with room to potentially acquire new talent through trades, free agency, or practice squad recourses. The team will now focus on preparing for their upcoming season, hoping to find success with their current roster.
As the NFL season approaches, fans eagerly anticipate the Dolphins’ first game, eager to see how the team will fare with their newly established roster.
