The NFL franchise tag deadline passed on Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, and several players around the league received the tag. Among those players were Tee Higgins, L’Jarius Sneed, Brian Burns, Justin Madubuike, Antoine Winfield, Josh Allen, Jaylon Johnson, and Michael Pittman Jr.
Additionally, Kyle Dugger reportedly received the transition tag from the New England Patriots. This tag allows the Patriots to match any offer sheet Dugger receives from another team.
For those unfamiliar with the difference between exclusive and non-exclusive franchise tags, an exclusive tag means the player cannot negotiate with other teams, while a non-exclusive tag allows the player to negotiate with other teams, but the original team has the right to match any offer.
The positional values for the 2024 NFL franchise tag were also listed, giving fans an idea of what each player’s tag will be worth based on their position.
Furthermore, the NFL transition tag was explained for those who may not be familiar with it. This tag allows a team to retain a player for one year at a higher salary than the average of the top ten players at their position, but it does not guarantee they will stay with the team long-term.
