Slasher Film “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” Sweeps Five Categories at the 44th Annual Razzies
In a shocking turn of events, the slasher film “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” dominated the 44th annual Golden Raspberry Awards, commonly known as the Razzies. The film took home awards in five categories, including Picture, Director, Screenplay, Screen Couple, and Remake/Rip-Off/Sequel.
Based on the beloved children’s literary character, the film tells the story of a feral and bloodthirsty version of Pooh and Piglet terrorizing a group of young university women and Christopher Robin. The gruesome and gory take on the classic character proved to be a hit with Razzie voters from around the world.
In addition to the unexpected success of “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey,” actress Fran Drescher received the Razzie Redeemer Award for her leadership during the 2023 actor strike. The Razzies, which are voted on by over 1,100 members worldwide, also announced the nominations for the 2024 awards ceremony.
Among the nominees for the 2024 Razzies are films such as “The Exorcist: Believer,” “Shazam! Fury of the Gods,” and, once again, “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey.” The winners for this year included Megan Fox for Worst Actress in “Johnny & Clyde,” Jon Voight for Worst Actor in “Mercy,” and Sylvester Stallone for Worst Supporting Actor in “Expend4bles.”
Notably, “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” also took home the award for Worst Screen Couple and Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel. Director Rhys Frake-Waterfield was awarded the Worst Director for his work on the film, which also won Worst Screenplay.
