Joey King Supports SAG-AFTRA Strike Outside Disney Studios
Joey King, the talented 24-year-old actress, made headlines as she joined fellow actors in support of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. The picketing took place outside Disney studios in Burbank, California, drawing attention to the fight for better wages and protection from artificial intelligence.
Onlookers couldn’t help but notice King’s striking outfit, which consisted of black leggings and a black t-shirt. Emblazoned on her shirt were the words “SAG-AFTRA STRONG,” clearly showcasing her support for the cause. To complete her look, King accessorized with a stylish green backpack, square-shaped red sunglasses, and several eye-catching rings.
King was not alone in her demonstration. A number of other celebrities, including Beanie Feldstein, Eric Stonestreet, Frances Fisher, and Gabrielle Carteris, were also seen participating in the strike. This strike marks a significant moment, being the first coordinated effort by actors from film and television since 1980. Additionally, it is the first time that two major Hollywood unions have jointly gone on strike since 1960.
The impact of the strike is substantial, affecting highly anticipated productions such as Disney’s Avatar and Lion King sequels. Furthermore, popular fall television shows, such as The Simpsons, will also be affected. As part of their protest, SAG-AFTRA members are refraining from filming movies or TV series and are not participating in press or film premieres.
The strike comes as a result of unsuccessful negotiations between SAG-AFTRA and studios. Without a satisfactory deal in place, the union decided to carry out this work stoppage to exert pressure and demand better conditions for its members.
Joey King took to Instagram to share photos from the picket line with her followers. In addition to her activism, the actress also hinted at her upcoming wedding to Steven Piet, whom she met on the set of The Act.
As the SAG-AFTRA strike continues, Hollywood remains at a standstill, with actors united in their pursuit of fair treatment and improved work conditions. The impact of their collective efforts will be closely watched, as the entertainment industry grapples with the ever-evolving landscape of technology and artificial intelligence.
