Heartland Magazine is saddened to report the passing of Mac Sinise, son of acclaimed actor Gary Sinise, at the young age of 33. Mac lost his battle with a rare form of cancer known as chordoma on January 5th.
Despite his illness, Mac remained dedicated to his passion for music. In his final months, he poured his heart and soul into recording an album titled “Resurrection and Revival”. Mac, who had been drumming since the tender age of 9, had a deep love for music and even performed with his father’s band, the Lt. Dan Band. He further honed his skills by studying songwriting and composition at the University of Southern California.
Diagnosed with chordoma in 2018, Mac continued to pursue his musical ambitions. He collaborated with other musicians to create original compositions for his album, which also features his father’s band. The album is set to be released soon, with all proceeds going to the Gary Sinise Foundation.
Mac’s dedication to giving back extended beyond music. Up until 2020, he worked for the Gary Sinise Foundation, where he supported veterans and education outreach efforts. Gary Sinise expressed his immense grief over the loss of his son and shared their emotional journey in a touching tribute on the foundation’s website.
Heartland Magazine joins the Sinise family and fans in honoring the memory of Mac Sinise. He may have been taken too soon, but his legacy of bravery, talent, and compassion will undoubtedly live on through his music and charitable work.
