The Syracuse women’s basketball team faced a tough challenge in the second round of the NCAA Tournament as they went up against the Connecticut Huskies at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Connecticut. The game was broadcast on ESPN and ended with a final score of UConn 72, Syracuse 64.
Despite the loss, the Orange put up a strong fight against the Huskies, with Dyaisha Fair leading the scoring with an impressive 20 points. However, it was UConn’s Paige Bueckers who stole the show, scoring 32 points on 14-of-25 shooting.
The absence of Alaina Rice, who was unable to play due to an injury, put added pressure on players like Kennedi Perkins and Sophie Burrows to step up. Unfortunately, it was not enough to overcome UConn’s dominance, as they advanced to the Sweet 16 for the 30th time in the last 30 NCAA Tournaments.
This game marked the end of a successful season for Syracuse and the end of the career of one of their greatest players. Dyaisha Fair made history by moving up to third place on the Division I career scoring list with another impressive 20-point performance.
Looking ahead, the Orange will now focus on regrouping and preparing for next season. With the potential for future success in NCAA basketball, fans can expect to see Syracuse come back even stronger in the future.
